Children’s Community Connections is a new and exciting service development in the provision of community-based supports to families and children with additional needs in County Mayo - including children with an intellectual disability, autism and other identified needs. Service Manager Children’s Community Connections (Social Care Leader grade) Permanent post 39 hours per week Base: Castlebar, Co. Mayo Reporting Relationship: The Service Manager will report to the Area Manager for Children’s Services Reference Number: 2023-38A Closing Date: June 7th, 2023 Job Brief The service manager will lead the children’s community connections team in the planning and delivery of flexible, community-based supports and short respite options for children who meet the criteria for service. This will be achieved by working in partnership with families, children and a wide range of existing local organisations and support services. The Children’s Community Connections manager will work collaboratively with Western Care Associations existing centre-based children’s respite services and home-share service to plan and deliver a range of respite options to meet the needs of children and families supported. Responsibilities Included - f ull job description available by emailing [email protected] Reporting to the Area Manager for Children’s Services the Service Manager will lead and manage the Children’s Community Connections team which includes staff at Social Care Worker and Social Care Assistant grades. Responsibility for the day to day operation of the service. The Service Manager will liaise and create collaborative systems with other supportive agencies, including Enable Ireland, HSE/CDNT, to deliver and develop the service. The Service Manager will support and positively engage/interact with families to provide the appropriate supports to assist families in meeting their goals and needs. Training and Induction will be provided by the organisation. Qualification Details A minimum level 7 Degree qualification in Social Care or related field. -please note your qualification must be eligible for CORU registration once this process commences Candidate Requirements A minimum of 3 years management experience in a health and/or social care setting. Knowledge and experience of supporting individuals with Intellectual disability and /or Autism is essential. Experience of working with children is desirable. An understanding of person and family centred approach to service provision. Excellent communication skills. Good time management and record keeping skills. Experience of working in partnership with families. Experience of working in partnership as part of a team and with other agencies. Good level of IT skill as appropriate to the role. Duties involved (Duties include but are not limited to the following) Contribute to and participate in the local service planning process to respond to the creative development and ongoing changing needs of the service. Provide personal care and support to service users where required. Ensure a safe place of work, incorporating Western Care Association’s Dignity at Work Policy and Health & Safety requirement. To promote safety in all environments, in line with the Association’s practices. Use positive approaches to support people who may have challenging behaviour in line with Organisational practice. Other Requirements Full driver’s license is essential All applicants will be subject to Irish Garda Vetting & Reference checks All applicants from Countries outside the E.U. will be required to provide relevant work authorization to take up employment in Republic of Ireland.
