The team specialises in; Delivering designs on a wide range of OHL transmission projects.
Developing overhead line standards, material design development and analysis.
The role of the successful candidate will be to work on OHL design, OHL material specification and project management in our Transmission and Distribution Delivery OHL Design department, based in Dublin or Cork.
Key Responsibilities Working within an engineering team in a proactive way to deliver higher quality projects to Clients' satisfaction Provision and management of design and engineering services for overhead lines including undertaking design and feasibility studies Supervision of design implementation on site Communicating and reporting to clients on product contract requirements, scope and testing/supply progress Supporting project teams in relation to overhead line material and design issues Specifying materials for transmission and distribution overhead lines, including product design parameters, material properties, outlining testing to national and international standards Preparation of tender enquiry documentation Assessing suppliers tendered documentation, reviewing product designs, drawings, and test reports Material test and fault investigations, including initial assessment reporting, standards research, interfacing with suppliers, project designers, etc.
This role will require some travel both nationally and internationally Knowledge, Skills and Experience Working as part of this dynamic team, you will always have new challenges and new problems to solve - working together is key.
You will have the autonomy to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems with the support of your colleagues.
We are looking for the following skills; Essential 2 years' plus relevant experience in a design office.
A strong work ethic with a clear focus on delivery to safety, time, quality, and cost objectives Strong technical capability Drivers licence and access to a car is essential Excellent communication skills Detailed knowledge & experience of safety principles in design Proven track record of project co-ordination to the highest technical standards Ability to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structure Desirable Experience in the delivery of work packages for the construction phase of projects Knowledge and experience of overhead lines materials Knowledge and experience of overhead lines design software - PLS-CADD, Auto CAD, Microstation and Microsoft Project Experience in development of material specifications and materials tender assessments Knowledge and experience of ISO Quality systems Qualifications Essential Either level 8 in Civil Engineering or equivalent work experience is essential Location This role is based in ESB E&MP Cork offices but travel to project locations as required, is a key requirement of the role ESB is committed to smart working - combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working.
The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week.
All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.
