Job DetailsJob Title: Senior Software Engineer - Java (Band 2)Department: IT SolutionsLocation: Abbey StreetVhi Group Services DAC have an exciting opportunity for a full time permanent vacancy as a Senior Java Software Engineer, to work with innovative technologies on their digital transformation program.As a Senior Software Engineer, you will become a core member of the Application Delivery Team working across the full software development lifecycle helping to design and build solutions based on industry best practices and providing expertise to broader team.We expect our Senior Software Engineers to be dynamic, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic about taking on new problems across our business as we continue to build great services for our customers.Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors complex programs/scripts and integration software servicesDefining and managing scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexityDesigning complex software applications, components and modulesProviding technical expertise to enable the configuration of system components and equipment for systems testingMaintaining application support processes, and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed proceduresAssisting in the development of new or improved practices and organisational processes or standardsProviding advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standardsProposing and agreeing the configuration items (CIs) to be uniquely identified with naming conventionsSupporting projects, functions or teams in the development of measurement methodsOrganising knowledge assets and oversees the life cycle of identifying, capturing, classifying, storing, and maintaining assetsSpecifies the content and structure of learning and development materialsAssisting practitioners with creating personal development plansSupporting assigned co-workers in areas of uncertainty, such as, organisational contacts, communication channels, processes, job expectations and manager relationsProviding operational direction, support and guidance to assigned colleaguesDealing with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned, and the collection and dissemination of relevant informationFacilitating and supports the execution of resourcing activities in collaboration with managers and teamsRole criteria:5+ years software development experience covering the full development lifecycle working with business user and IT teams in a back end or full-stack capacity5+ years of Agile team experience desirableBS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field or equivalent practical experienceAdvanced Knowledge and experience with the following: o Java 11 o Spring (Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud and Spring Cloud Stream) o JUnit frameworks (Mockito, JMockit) o RESTful APIs o TomcatExperience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and/or service-oriented architecturesUnderstanding of the following concepts: OAuth2/OIDC/ JWT, RabbitMQ/Kafka, LDAP, MongoDB/Oracle, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Ansible, API Gateway, Event driven architecturesFamiliarity with test driven and behavioural driven development practicesFamiliarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure or similar) technologiesExperience working within an agile scrum team and perform within scrum methodologiesGood working knowledge of CI/CD, GitOps, methodologies and tools including gradleProven experience delivering software at scale to agreed milestones and / or service levels InterpersonalExcellent people and relationship skills with ability to negotiate and influenceProblem solving with proven track record of achievements and innovationTarget oriented with experience of delivering in agile methodologies to strict milestonesAbility to perform within Agile methodologiesDemonstrate Alignment with Vhi ValuesVhi is an equal opportunities employer.
