Orange Recruitment are seeking a seasoned Civil Design Engineer to join our clients project team as a senior member, working closely with architects, MEP engineers, project managers and stakeholders at all levels.
In this role, you will lead the design of civil packages from initial review, through estimating, procurement and planning, to handover for on-site build-out.
You'll be central to the successful delivery of major data centre projects, ensuring technical excellence, compliance, and strong coordination across disciplines.
Responsibilities: Take ownership of civil design deliverables: develop scope of works, responsibility matrices, and task information packages.
Review design packages, collaborate with estimators, planners, and procurement to align cost, quality, schedule.
Identify and manage design-related risks, escalating as needed; maintain design records and manage changes.
Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and internal teams (MEP, structure, architecture) to ensure integration and constructability.
Assist in preparing tenders, pre-construction agreements, ensuring proposals meet client and statutory standards.
Interpret geotechnical / site investigation reports; oversee interface between civil, substructural and architectural designs.
Ensure civil technical compliance, material choices, value engineering and off-site manufacturing opportunities are explored.
Support handover of civil packages to site teams with detailed information and approval for procurement.
Requirements: Demonstrable experience in civil design engineering on large-scale / mission-critical / data centre projects or equivalent.
Excellent technical skills: civil design standards, constructability review, geotechnical interpretation.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills: communicating with clients, consultants, internal and site teams.
Proven ability to manage design packages end-to-end: scope, cost, programme, approvals.
Proficiency with relevant tools (CAD, BIM platforms) and information control systems.
Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high pressure environment, balancing multiple deliverables and meeting tight deadlines.
