We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our financial services client on a contract basis.
The successful candidate will work in a hybrid model, with a blend of remote work and time spent in the Dublin office.
You will play a critical role in developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines, ensuring the smooth flow of data across systems, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes to support business analytics and reporting.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver efficient solutions.
Optimize and monitor performance of databases and data platforms to ensure availability and scalability.
Implement and maintain data governance and data quality best practices.
Create and manage data models and architecture to support analytical capabilities.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and documentation to ensure high-quality solutions.
Required Experience & Skills: Proven experience in data engineering, particularly within the financial services sector.
Strong proficiency with SQL and relational databases (e.g., My SQL, Postgre SQL, Oracle).
Hands-on experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
Expertise in ETL tools and data pipeline development (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend, or similar).
Proficient in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related data services.
Strong understanding of data architecture, data modeling, and data governance practices.
Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Scala for data processing.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in cross-functional teams.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in financial services or regulated industries.
Knowledge of data security and compliance requirements within the financial sector.
Experience with machine learning models and data science tools.
