Diabetes Care Kilkenny Abbott Diabetes Care is opening a new site, in Kilkenny, that will be at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre systems. This is how you can make a difference at Abbott: In this important role you will lead category sourcing initiatives that may encompass local, domestic and international purchasing opportunities. You'll be establishing, articulating, and implementing sourcing strategies for Plastics. This includes obtaining program buy-in from various stakeholder organizations; managing project plans, identifying the resources to support the objectives, and driving projects through complex sourcing processes, ensuring end results meet the requirements of all organizations impacted. Our incumbent requires a proactive approach that is relationship oriented and customer focused, analytical and data-driven, creative and committed to continuous improvement. It will be a very big plus if you can bring experience in developing projects or sites from square one. As Plastics Category Manager you will be responsible of: Business operations for Plastics category management. Drive global operational consistency of the Category across Abbott Diabetes Care. Working closely with business stakeholders in Corporate and Divisional functions to enable business continuity, including driving implementation plans. Nurturing stakeholder relationships by serving as a strong business partner, helping to identify business critical needs and requirements while providing operational support that meets immediate and long-term demands. Being a strategic representative of Abbott, across disciplines, industry and within the community. Proactively identify areas of opportunity for business process improvement. Providing insights to business units on how to optimize and refine Abbott and Supplier processes to improve effectiveness. Being a primary point of contact for overall business operational needs across the category. Responsible for prioritizing planned and unplanned demand, globally, across the category. Influencing business units to align with strategic initiatives that enable effective operational efficiencies across the enterprise. Effective operational leader capable of driving effectiveness for the category. Ability to assess overall needs and react to anticipated and unanticipated disruptions. Driving financial performance with thorough supply base management, and category capability building. Drives cost impacts, whether savings, or revenue generation by meeting expansion goals and growth goals. Influencing and partnering with business leaders to manage and align business needs and requirements for the category. Monitoring global market dynamics and anticipate business critical actions that may be required for business continuity. Being a key relationship manager with category suppliers, driving risk management, and enhanced development of a flexible agile supply base QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Required Bachelors’ Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering or Science At least 8 years of combined / related experience, such as Sourcing, Supply Chain Management, Production Planning, Quality Systems, Regulatory Affairs. Proficiency in PC applications (word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations) Strong communication, persuasion, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Preferred: Masters degree. 5+ years' experience in a sourcing, product manufacturing / supply chain management environment. Effective skills to build relationships and productively interface with all levels of the Business.
