Benefits: Pension Scheme Critical Illness cover Discounted inpatient and outpatient treatment rates Sick leave scheme Flexible working hours Financial support for career training & development Staff Care Services programme Career break scheme Discount pharmacy rates Subsidised restaurant Main Duties: Coordinates activities of the clinical area and ensure referrals are dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner To provide timely expert assessment and intervention for patients with acute coronarysyndrome and to promote lifestylemodification for cardiovascular risk To ensure that appropriate referrals are madeand that patients receive early diagnosis,treatment and management of theircondition Develop the nursing role with the UCCU toensure that all patients have rapid access toclinical assessment and referral to non-invasive tests Assessment and management of patients whopresent with symptoms of cardiac type chestpain or new onset cardiac arrhythmia utilisingevidence based practice guidelines Engage by phone with GPs in relation toprospective patients regarding theirsymptoms, present condition, risk factors etc.This involves scheduling and arrangingappointment for patients to attend UCCU Work effectively with colleagues within theUCCU and the cardiology department,ensuring the timely and appropriateassessment, management includingdischarge and follow up of patientspresenting to the UCCU Liaise with the Cardiology Consultant when undertaking the assessment, planning, transferring or discharging of patients who are treated in the UCCU Undertake advanced assessment skills including history taking, examination and clinical judgement to direct appropriate interventions Organise clinical tests for the patient as indicated by their individual clinical presentation or as directed by the Cardiologist Requirements of the Clinical Nurse Manager: Registered General Nurse Be on the live register with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland Have at least five years post-registration experience two of which must be in critical care nursing Up to date knowledge in clinical practice and management of day case patients. Excellent interpersonal and managerial skills Have undertaken formal recognised post registration education relevant to his/her specialist practice at higher diploma level or equivalent.
