Job Description What your new role will entail; Our Belfast Water team have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Civil Engineer with strong analytical skills and experience in delivery of civil infrastructure projects. You will be joining a successful Water Team with an enviable workload in design and build contracts, giving you the opportunity to follow projects from conception design through to completion on site. You will be supported and encouraged to maintain your CPD and embrace initiatives to help you further develop your own skills and career. You will work alongside our project managers and lead design engineers throughout the project design and delivery cycle, supporting various design stages of civil infrastructure, water and wastewater utility projects to include carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs and preparation of reports and technical specifications. Job Responsibilities: Numerical analysis including the use of computer-based programmes to assist with the study of potable, surface and wastewater systems.Technical and feasibility studies to appraise the practicability of alternative solutions in aspects such as potable water, foul water, surface water and attenuation requirements, including appropriate calculations.Structural analysis and design such as determination of the design situation and load cases, including calculation and use of analysis softwareProduce designs of water infrastructure, such as pump systems and pipe networks with attenuation to safety in design, such as creating a Designer’s Risk Assessment document.Produce sketches, check and consolidate final working drawings created by Technicians.Keep up-to-date with developments in regulatory legislation and guidelines that may affect design work.Working with other team members to undertake technical work, site work, and project management.Opportunities for working on site and site visits, to develop wider understanding of how designs are implemented. Being part of the team; You will be key in safeguarding for the future by delivering water and wastewater upgrades for Uisce Éireann, Northern Ireland Water and Contractor D&B engagements. You will work alongside our project managers and design engineers for a variety of UK & Ireland clients, throughout the project design and delivery cycle, supporting various design stages of water and wastewater utility projects to include carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs, detailed designs and preparation of reports and technical specifications. You will be part of a core team of around 10 Civil Engineers and a wider team of 30+ of Civil Engineers, Geotechnical Engineers, Modellers, Structural Engineers, Planners, Ecologists and CAD Technicians. The role will be a flexible working from home and office-based hybrid role. Qualifications Here's what we need from you; BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive.Demonstrable interest in water projectsCapability to satisfy client and business expectations and be able to consider the wider financial and commercial implications of their actionsCommunicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally & in writing.
