Position Overview:
As the Director of Projects you will play a crucial role in driving the successful execution of our client’s major portfolio of renewable energy projects. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead a high-performing team of project managers and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the strategic and operational success of their projects. Your expertise in project management, particularly within the renewable energy sector, will be instrumental in achieving the company's goals and contributing to Ireland's clean energy future.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the overarching project management strategy aligned with the company's mission and goals. Provide visionary leadership to your team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
Portfolio Oversight: Oversee a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects, from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, timelines, and budgets.
Team Management: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of project managers, providing guidance and support in project planning, execution, and problem-solving. Encourage professional growth and development within the team.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, legal, and external partners, to ensure seamless coordination and successful project outcomes.
Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with projects and develop strategies to mitigate them. Proactively address issues that may impact project delivery or quality.
Resource Allocation: Manage resource allocation for projects, ensuring efficient utilisation of personnel, equipment, and budgets.
Performance Metrics: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess project performance, identify trends, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Reporting: Provide regular updates to the executive team and stakeholders on project statuses, milestones, and any relevant issues. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations as required.
Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and best practices within the project management function, contributing to the company's overall operational excellence.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role overseeing complex projects.
Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects, ideally within the renewable energy sector.
Understanding of renewable energy technologies, market trends, and regulatory frameworks. Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
Solid financial acumen and experience in budget management.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent preferred.
Results-oriented mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and rapidly evolving environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in project management software and tools.
