Job Description

About the role:

As a maintenance technician you will deliver efficient and effective maintenance services to Process equipment, GMP Clean Utilities and Plant Utilities to minimize equipment downtime. Maintenance ensures that the Validated state of GMP equipment is maintained

How you will contribute:
Under direct or minimal supervision, perform installation, emergency, corrective and preventive maintenance of equipment at the Site while complying with GMP and EHS requirements
In partnership with Manufacturing / Production and Utilities Operations personnel perform troubleshooting of equipment
Follow maintenance procedures, work instructions and safety measures when performing maintenance work
Interface with Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to obtain plans and predefined schedules for work orders and coordinate with equipment owner when work starts and notify equipment owner when work is completed
Asses job hazards at the location of work and apply safety measures such as Lock-Out-Tag-Out of systems, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure maintenance and repair work can be performed safely  
Identify defects or errors in the maintenance plans, work instructions, spare parts kits, and wasteful or non-value added maintenance to the Maintenance Supervisor, Planner/Scheduler, Spare Parts Storeroom manager and Reliability Engineer for evaluation
Report abnormal findings and observations to Supervisor, save removed replacements parts that show abnormal damage or wear and tear, and share the parts with Reliability Engineering for analysis
Accurately record and document in the work order the maintenance activities performed, whether acceptance criteria are met, abnormal observations were found, the labor hours spent, tools used, spare parts used, spare parts returned and other materials consumed, and when the equipment was released back to the equipment user/owner
Complete work and return unused parts to the Storeroom in a timely manner according to planning and predefined schedules
Route completed work orders to Supervisor for review in a timely manner
Support Engineering projects, and/or outside contractors on performing new installations and modifications of equipment
Manage and oversee maintenance contractors, maintenance vendors and external parts-fabrication / machine shops who perform maintenance and repair work, and review their reports and records
Operate and maintain machinery used in the maintenance shop
Support internal and external Audits and Inspections of the Maintenance Program
Assist in the development of training materials for new equipment/processes
Seek and implement opportunities for continuous improvement

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise
Hands on experience with mechanical and/or electrical equipment
Proficient in the use of  SAP CMMS system

Decision-making and Autonomy
Ability to make decisions based on site priority and availability of assets and spares

Manufacturing/Production, Utilities Operations, Instrument Calibration/Metrology, Spare Parts Manager, EHS, Engneering

What you bring to Takeda: 
Technical school diploma, apprenticeship or certification as Mechanic, Electrician, or other trades is desired
2 – 3 years maintenance experience in the Pharmaceutical industry (solid oral dose processing and packaging) an advantage
Operate machinery such as welding, soldering, pillar drill, lathe desirable
Strong technical problem solving skills
Ability to work as part of a team or independently
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good administrative and mathematical skills
Working knowledge of computers in a reasonable training period
Good planning, organizational and multi-tasking skills
Ability to understand what constitutes good work instructions
Able to read blueprints, technical drawings, loop drawings and wiring diagrams
Understanding of the different levels of work order priorities
Orientation and commitment to customer service
Ability to assess and recognize job hazards at the work site and identify the appropriate safety measures needed to safely perform the work
Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
