Check out these 8 reasons to join Stryker's engineering team: Staff Engineer, Materials(18 month FTC)Position SummaryIs the Subject Matter Expert across a number of Engineering competencies including Lean six sigma, manufacturing and materials. The Staff Engineer will provide technical leadership in the Stryker facility. They will be responsible for working with both internal and external cross functional teams to recommend materials and processes, optimize and validate processes and will be instrumental to meeting Operational KPIs. They will need to use designed experiments to characterize processes, structured RCA processes to troubleshoot issues and clear communication to represent the team during cross functional reviews.Key Areas of Responsibility Management of significant Engineering projects with a focus on powder metallurgy, chemistry, and materials science, supporting cross functional initiatives across Stryker Additive.Provide Technical leadership from an engineering perspective.Ownership relevant plant metrics from an engineering perspective.Technical and operational support to manufacturing operations.Ensure quality of process and product as defined in appropriate OS and Material specifications. Structured problem solving.Continuously improve the performance of the process.Idea generation and execution of technical projects/solutions to complex technical problems where analysis of situations requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.Build and leverage cross-functional relationships with technical leaders to bring together ideas, information, use cases, and industry analyses to develop best practices.Lead a culture of innovation within the function by developing and implementing engineering forums and reviews for the engineering team.To develop an extensive knowledge of current and future ASTM and ISO Materials Standards and their impact to the design and development of Additive manufacturing processes.Provide support to Process Development / Advanced Operations on technology development and application within the manufacturing process.Engage in the implementation of lean manufacture within manufacturing.Interface with Materials Science, Design and Quality Assurance departments to provide customer with a quality product in a timely manner.Validation, Appraisal and support of suppliers, and raw materialSupport process development and cost reduction activities within the business units.Communicate and participate in system and process troubleshooting with support team members and with external agents.Providing development and guidance for assigned Co-op /Technician Engineers.What you will need:Level 8 degree in engineering or science related subject as a minimumLevel 9 Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or other relevant discipline or equivalent technical experience is an advantageAn In-depth knowledge of metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing and associated manufacturing processes is a significant advantage but not compulsory.Proven Project Management skills through the delivery of business-critical projects.A Green or Black Belt 6 Sigma qualifications is an advantage.Has minimum of 4 years’ experience in a relevant industryCapable of providing technical leadership and, influencing and providing technical direction to Engineers, Coop Students, Technicians and Operators as required.Demonstrable strong analytical & problem-solving skills, a process improvement orientation, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Technological expert, willing to source, investigate and implement technological advances.Confident and effective decision maker, with a proven technical leadership ability to negotiate and influence others.About StrykerStryker is one of the world’s leading medical technology companies and, together with our customers, is driven to make healthcare better.The company offers innovative products and services in Medical and Surgical, Neurotechnology, Orthopedics, and Spine that help improve patient and healthcare outcomes.
